What Are You Hungry For?

"I am so hungry for a big smashing creative burgeoning burdened love."

This fall I am offering a 10 week intensive psychotherapy group program for those individuals seeking a comprehensive approach to treatment and understanding of their eating disorder symptoms and patterns. In week one we begin to investigate the more subtle hungers and appetites from a psychodynamic perspective which is different than tracking behaviors with food on a surface level. What does it mean to feel beautiful or ugly, fat or full, empty or satiated? Thinking about our psychic yearnings and fantasies initiates the process toward understanding and healing. In this group, the common denominator will be that we are all beings-in-a-body and that we all struggle to be beings-in-a-body. Exploring what we are hungry for helps us begin to understand the psychically necessary aspect of eating disorder symptoms even though they cause considerable harm, shame and confusion. There are so many rich and unknown possibilities that could come from being in a group that explores these conflicts from a relational perspective. For more information regarding this group, please send me an inquiry and we can talk.
