Minding The Pregnant Body

“Let us make pregnancy an occasion when we appreciate our female bodies.”

From a Pea to a Pumpkin, a prenatal psychotherapy group, is designed to meet the psychological and emotional needs of each participant. The physical changes and experiences in the female body during pregnancy can be a source of anxiety, anger, joy, adulation, freedom, restriction or fear, just to name a few. Talking about the physical sensations and body image during pregnancy brings the body into the mind and the mind into the body. It is an important connection to behold and explore. How a mother-to-be considers her body will directly impact the body ego of her newborn. Possessing the “right” sentiments is not necessarily the objective, rather, embodying the significance of articulating what is sensed and realized. The process of talk therapy is the foundation of how this group will approach the physical and emotional aspects of being in a pregnant body.
